A Week in Hendred

Our village boasts a busy community and offers a good range of facilities, services and leisure activities for young and old alike.

Unfortunately the growth of urbanisation and centralisation of workplaces to towns and cities, means that many English villages no longer have a regular bus service or a local shop. It is becoming increasingly rare to find villages in this area of the country offering even one school, church or public house. East Hendred has all these community facilities and much more on offer.

This short report aims to give a glimpse of a typical week in the village, how its residents go about at both work and play, so that future generations of villagers and those interested in country life can get a feel for what life was like at the start of the 21st century.
