A record of the village in the year 2000 has been produced, to capture a 'snapshot' of its people, businesses, organisations at the turn of the Millennium and special events held during the year. This was partly funded by a grant from the Millennium 'Awards for All' programme. This allowed the purchase of a dedicated computer, scanner and digital camera which assisted greatly in the preparation of the record. A committee was set up at the end of 1999 to progress the record. Its members are listed below and it met on a regular basis since that time to July 2001, when the record was completed.

It was agreed from the beginning to produce the record in electronic format on a CD-ROM to enable text, still and video photographs to be included. An edited version of the record was also placed on the village web site www.hendred.org.
