Purpose of organisation    To provide a meeting for the older members of the community for social intercourse, to halve worries and troubles, to enjoy entertainment. To have visits arranged, to share memories etc

Brief history of organisation    The DGA was founded in 1966 for Hendred inhabitants in the second half of their century. We are a social club, meeting once a month to share a meal, companionship and enjoy entertainment. We travel on many outings. Our funds are currently raised from two Bridge Drives and these enable us to provide meals free of charge and to subsidise outings. New members are always welcome.

Where and when   We meet once a month in Snells Hall at either 3 pm or 1 pm. We meet at least six times a year for outings. We have a newsletter.

Special events for Millennium year    A summer luncheon with stalls to which we invited members from other clubs.
A Millennium lunch with musical entertainment for 60 people from the village, at which a group photograph was taken.
A special lunch for those DGA members who had attained 80 years or more.
A visit to the Music Hall in the Watermill Theatre.
The jewel in our crown was a visit to The Millennium Dome in London.
