Purpose of organisation    To organise regular social, educational and sporting exchange visits with Sarceaux, near Argentan in Normandy.

Brief history of organisation    The Hendreds Twinning Group was set up in 1997, and the formal signing of the twinning charter with Sarceaux was completed in 1997. For the years 1997-1999 there were two exchange visits each year, with additional football matches organised separately. From 2000 there is to be one visit each year.

Where and when   The Committee meets regularly in members' houses to organise the exchanges and associated fund raising. An annual meeting is held in April. A regular newsletter is published for the members. The Group has a page on the Hendred web site.

Special events for Millennium year    The main exchange in 2000 was the visit by Sarceaux to the Hendreds on the weekend of July 1-2nd, when 35 visitors were hosted by local families. Each French family was presented with a Hendred Millennium mug. The main event during the weekend was the visit to the Oxfordshire Millennium event (OOMPH) in South Park, Headington. This included a grand procession, visual spectacle, finishing with a spectacular fireworks display. There was also a formal lunch on Sunday in Snells Hall, followed by a visit to Roves Farm.
